Year 2 / Concept Art

Pink Floyd’s album 'Animals' is loosely based on George Orwell's dystopian novel 'Animal Farm,' which critiques the social and political systems of the time. Each track on the album represents a different 'animal' character: dogs, pigs, and sheep.

In my rework, I maintained a sheep's perspective to represent the working class and portrayed the pigs, who belong to the upper class, in the sky. To evoke stronger emotions in the sheep, I changed the perspective from a long shot to a low-angle shot, creating a sense of looking up to those in power, with the sheep hoping to occupy that position someday.

USED ON THE BACK COVER

Over the course of a weekend, I worked on re-creating this album cover. The process involved conducting extensive research (looking into the past designs and various other reworks), developing a solid concept, and creating a rough visual idea.

Using an image discovered online, I creatively incorporated a few flying pigs into the sky to complement and express my narrative and emotions. Primarily utilizing Photoshop, I edited the picture to evoke a sense of capitalism within the scene. To further enhance the vintage feel, I added filters simulating a film camera, capturing the essence of the late '70s.

Misc. Trial Stuff

As a class project, I am incredibly proud of the final result. In fact, I was so pleased with how it turned out that I went above and beyond by creating mockups and thoroughly documenting my creative process. This project not only tested my skills but also required me to learn how to use various apps to bring my artistic vision to life.
